Holy Apostles Chapel | New Berlin, WI

Holy Apostles Catholic Church in New Berlin has added a 700 square foot perpetual adoration chapel. While adoration may take place in a church, perpetual adoration must take place in a chapel that is not being used for mass. Therefore, the chapel has its own separate, secure entrance from the outside. Involved from concept through construction administration, GROTH Design Group has tied the new 30-person chapel into the architecture of the church, taking cues from the existing form and material to make it integrated, with a warm and welcoming feeling.

BMO Harris Bank Sherman Park Branch | Milwaukee, WI

The new BMO Harris Branch Office at 3637 W. Fond du Lac Avenue replaces the former branch which the company acquired in 1959 and has been a fixture in the community for almost 90 years. The 2,200-square-foot branch replaces the 20,000-square-foot branch and offices at its previous location across the street, which was burned during the civil unrest in Sherman Park in August 2016.

The exterior was designed to take advantage of its unique corner lot. The interior, designed by another architect, emphasizes that the Sherman Park Branch is BMO Harris Banks’s first Smart Branch in Wisconsin. It includes Smart ATMs and video conferencing to provide on-demand access to specialized bank professionals.

Soaring glass and dynamic volume create an impressive board room demanding attention from many vantage points throughout the office.

GROTH Design Group completed both the base building renovation as well as tenant build-outs for three of the spaces.

Trinity Lutheran Church | Elkhart, IN

The congregation at Trinity Lutheran sought to strengthen ministry programs by combining operations from two sites onto a single campus; adding a new Worship and Parish Ministry facility to the existing suburban school facility.

The development had to be seamless with as little disruption to ongoing operations as possible.  In response, GROTH Design Group developed a phased short and long term approach addressing the immediate need for worship space and parking, and providing for longer term school, youth and early childhood programming.

The new worship space will be the heart of the overall development, providing for contemporary worship needs, including praise band and future technology systems, while maintaining the more traditional symbols of Lutheran worship within a concept allowing for expansion of the choir program.

The building houses a EC-8 two track school with approximately 500 students.  The design includes a gym, library, daycare, school offices and support functions. Additional funding during construction allowed for upgrades to the gymnasium/performance area to include a hardwood sports floor, improved acoustical treatments, theatrical lighting and sound, and more robust branding.

St. Luke's Lutheran Church | Waukesha, WI

GROTH Design Group partnered with St. Luke’s Congregation to renovate their place of worship. The goals of the endeavour were to enhance liturgical celebration, support and encourage the arts and music programming in the space, keep current with changing technology, and create an inspiring and fresh aesthetic.

The design for the worship space recreated the chancel to be fully flexible for a variety of liturgies and programming. The platform is accessible to patrons of all physical abilities. The chancel backdrop attains the double task of masking audio-visual technology to support the liturgy and tempering the massive scale of the space. Natural lighting in the front is decreased and filtered. Windows for increased natural light are carved into the stone walls of the nave, and seating is redesigned for flexibility, accessibility and comfort.
