Eastcastle Place
This project includes the upgrading of finishes and furniture on the fourth and fifth floors of the Long Term Care and Rehabilitation Center of the Eastcastle Place facility in Milwaukee.

On the surface, the project had a simple mandate to convert administrative offices into a public gathering space for residents, guests and employees of the facility to socialize, relax and interact. However, there were unique design challenges that included designing for an aging population, visibility from the main lobby, a connection to the exterior, and creating an aesthetic that represents the values of the resident community.
With a desire to create a strong connection to the exterior, but due to various tolerances of light and temperature, two contrasting rooms were developed.
The bar room has an expansive sliding glass door that opens 16’ wide, providing a seamless transition onto a wood patio with two large fire bowls. The second room, a cozy lounge, has a large operable window to allow a visual connection with the option of fresh air. Lastly, there are concealed shades and draperies that provide different levels of light transmission.
